One of the Coolest Wastes of 5 Minutes Ever!

Actually it was only about a minute, thirty. Then I lost interest. So maybe it's not that cool. But here it is. I hope you find it enjoyable and waste more time than I did. Here: nownetwork.

Great Funny Danger Icon

Somebody had a lot of fun illustrating the graphic for this project. Not to be out-funned, the copywriter wasn’t about to pass up this opportunity! I passed this while strolling the construction site of Living Way Fellowship at Wildcat and Broadway.

Free Audio Bible(New Testament) MP3

Simply reading the Bible just doesn't compare to this! Not to be cliché, but the gospels really do come to life. You've got to download this! You have to first download an App, but then you can download your New Testament. Each chapter is an MP3, so I just keep them in my iTunes library.

Oh! And you can download up to five different versions. I got the KJV.

Not a bad ministry either. I support. They work with oneverse who let nationals do the translating. Why do the nationals do it? B/c they are stoked to! They want their family, friends , and communities to be able to read the Bible themselves.

Effective Email

See the "After" Version and the website.

I got an email the other day form my parents(See "Before" image). Apparently this was being forwarded around asking folks to send a teabag in in defiance of Washington's taxing us. But there were a few issues I had with it.

Here is a list of some problems and how they could improve on their marketing:
    1. Get to the point FAST. It took way too long to get to the point.
    2. Provide web links. There wasn't a SINGLE link in the email.
    3. Avoid saying things like, "Send this to everyone in your address book." The last paragraph made it feel like a chain letter.
    4. Headers are nice. Use them. There was no layout. Provide some kind of hierarchy to organize the content.
    5. There was no masthead. Image headers are a great way to pull your audience into your email and gives you a credibility that far surpasses text only emails.

Do Not Bend, UPS

Wow, UPS, you really know how to follow directions—NOT. I just thought this was funny. Oh and it reconfirmed my decision never to ship UPS. It’s almost as bad as using the USPS.

Regulate Homeschooling?

A friend of mine thought it might be a good idea to regulate homeschooling. I told him that homeschoolers are in fact tested(which I thought later could be considered a form of regulation). My wife, who was homeschooled up until high school, took all the test that I(privately schooled) had taken. And sthere do exist homeschoolers who acquire perfect--or near-perfect--scores on their SATs and ACTs.

It sounds like they are being regulated by the state exams. And your kids are going to learn from you(as thier parent) whether you homeschool or not; So we could ask, "Why doesn't the government regulate whether you should even have kids in the first place; if you're not raising kids like the government thinks you should be raising them...?"

I want my kids to succeed. And I think you want the same for yours. But that's your responsibility not mine, not your neighbors, and not the government's.

Fontastic!

It's amazing the things you notice when you know what you want. I knew exactly what I was looking for and thought I'd found it in the font Bell MT. However after finding that this wasn't the perfect font, and after searching high and low only to find nothing, it was time to take matters into my own hands. I purchased a font editing tool(typetool3) an edited Bell to my liking. What an amazing experience it was! In fact my interest peaked so much that I got a few books about type.(amazon) I've still not read stop stealing sheep, though I need to. :-)

Obama's Stimulus Package Breakdown

What do you know!? An easy-to-read graphic breakdown of Obama's stimulus bill (or what nobody knows it by, the "American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009"). Yeah. That $20B in food stamps is going to create a lot of jobs, isn't it?

Thanks to The Washington Post.

Leg(+ Elbow) room anyone? Where you might least expect it.

A little trick I found while flying: When flying coach, pretty much everyone knows that the middle seat arm rests tilt up. But did you know that the isle seat's armrest tilts as well(at least on Southwest)? There's a small latch underneath the rest near the pivoting point. Just pull forward and lift.

How my wife deals with my baggage.

While traveling through Denver International Airport(DIA), I was amazed at my wife's spacial awareness. So I had to take a picture when we reached our gate. All of our luggage on two little wheels! My wife nor I travel much, but I'd love to see/hear about any tricks you may have!

Step:
1. Pull out handle of rolly-bag
2. Adjust handle of carseat so that it is perpendicular to seat
3. Slide carseat handle over rolly-bag handle
4. Place misc sweaters/jackets b/w carseat and rollybag
5. Set backpack b/w rolly-bag handle and carseat
6. Cross backpack straps over and around rolly-bag handle.
7. set diaper bag atop the carseat and wrap the strap around rolly-bag handle
